In Giverny, La Reserve nestles between the orchards and the forest. Once you have passed the Monet museum, head for the woods and follow the white painted arrow.

It was right after a visit to the Monet museum that the Brunets decided to settle down in the area. Inspired by their visit MR B found , 5 secluded hectares in which to build his dream property, a XVIIIth century style country house. Helped by his wife Marie-Lorraine, Didier started to build his house brick by brick.

The work lasted 3 years and the result is this charming family home. The interior design was Marie-Lorraine’s job. She chose the fabric -all different- for the 5 bedrooms, made the curtains, restored the family furniture, and collected etchings and many antic objects.

Once the scene was set the Brunets welcomed their first guests and since then La Reserve is always full -probably thanks to its warm, intimate family atmosphere. At La Reserve one can forget that one is a passerby. Instead you can enjoy the feeling of being a friend of the family, especially in the evening when discussions go at a good pace, or when playing billiards enjoying a glass of vintage whisky, you won’t miss TV at all.

The evenings are delightful. Whichever bedroom you get, the yellow bedroom on the first floor with it’s Japanese pattern beloved by Monet, the blue bedroom with it’s lovely ante-room, or the sepia, with I’s canopy, you will be sure to sleep well, dreaming of the Impressionists . And in the morning, the exquisite home made jam of la maîtresse de maison will make your day.
